1) Leah McNamara is a Graduate From University College Cork

Leah McNamara is a graduate from University College Cork with an honors degree in Drama and Theatre. She completed her education in 2015.

Leah, who’s around her mid-20’s, attended Castletroy College shortly before continuing her studies in University College Cork.

2) From Her First Professional Acting Job

The 5 ft. 6 inch tall actress, Leah McNamara has also appeared in numerous high profile movies and shows till date.

Leah’s first acting job was a small part in a 2015 horror movie called Cherry Tree filmed in Cork. Despite the fact that she had only a tiny part on it, she admits that it was very exciting.

In 2010 series Jack Taylor, Leah made her first on-screen appearance alongside Game of Thrones actor Iain Glen.

Eventually, in 2017, Leah landed on a huge acting job, maybe one of her biggest till date, appearing in Amazon Prime series Vikings. Till date, she appeared 12 times as the Aud “The Deep Minded” in Vikings.

In 2018, she appeared in movies like Cellar Door as Flo and Metal Heart as Chantal. The Irish actress Leah McNamara honed her acting skills from theatre before starring in the Irish indie drama Metal Heart (2018).

Be that as it may, her biggest breakthrough came when she appeared as Rosalind Devlin, a supporting role in Dublin Murders (2019).

3) Leah McNamara Describes Her Role Rosalind As “Right Little Freak”

The mastermind behind the death of her own little sister Katy, Leah McNamara’s role as Rosalind Devlin surely brought shockwaves amidst the fans of Dublin Murders, after the end of eighth episodes.

After four long weeks since the first episode aired on October 14, 2019 on BBC One, Starz and Raidio Teilifis Eireann (RTE), the devious character Rosalind left spectators chilled to the bone, while Leah admitted EVOKE.ie that she’d fun portraying ‘right little freak’.

During the interview in August 2019, Leah also gestured how honored she is to be the part of the show, expressing her love to the cast & crew.

Based on American-Irish writer Tana French’s squad books (In The Woods and The Likeness), Dublin Murders follows up the investigation of the murder of a young girl in Ireland, Dublin.

Despite the fact that RTE, BBC One and Starz haven’t still, officially confirmed the production of Dublin Murders Season 2, the program creator Sarah Phelps once left a message to the Radio Times that she wants more of the series as she knows what to share next.

4) She Was Nominated For An ADIFF Award

The Limerick actress Leah McNamara was nominated for an Audi Dublin International Film Festival award back in 2017.

The festival focuses on rising Irish talent since 2008.

When ILoveLimerick asked about how Leah felt about the nomination she replied,

“It’s been an absolute honour to be nominated for an ADIFF Discovery Award this year. I am busy filming two projects at the moment, and to be nominated for this award alongside so much incredible talent has been a very exciting start to the new year. The support has been amazing.”

Moreover, she added that acting is very turbulent and an unpredictable profession. She rejoice her career, and while it’s happening she will continue to work hard – Leah noted thanking her parents who always supported her since day one.

5) Her 10th Acting Appearance In Normal People

It’s been quite a fruitful journey to Leah in the entertainment industry and many flowers awaits to blossom ahead. Meanwhile, she’s been cast to portray the lead role of Rachel in TV adaptation of novel Normal People, by Sally Rooney.

Leah once noted that it was wonderful experience working with the Oscar-nominated director of Room (2015), Lenny Abrahamson.

Lenny has quite a marvelous picks on choosing and directoring the life of a two loved young couple who moves to university from school.

“I think people who were fans of the book will be really happy. It’s going to be a very different and truthful story about two people.” – Leah admitted about Normal People.

As for now, she’s recently signed up with Hyperion Talent Agency in the United States, while heading to meet the casting directors and filmmakers.

This year, Leah will feature in five out of 12 episodes of 2020 Hulu series Normal People.
