Jo Jo Rabbit is a truly STRANGE film story. It is ~maybe one of the most artfully DONE. It’s beautiful to see, tho about WW II and Nazi Germany. There are great actors & actresses, but the youngest ones are fantastic. They were given clever lines that children don’t use, but were allowed to say them as children would, if they thought that way in the abstract. The story is about Germans AND Jews together in that German city. And is a mixture of real events with fictional dialogue. For instance, the little boys’ mother (Scarlett Johansson) is hanged in the town square for sheltering a young, Jewish girl. THAT was real, but they did not set the table accurately for the little boy to grieve at his mothers’ execution. The young actor (Roman Davis) DOES, but until that moment, the film seems a farce. YET, it is artfully done all the same. I’ve watched it three times, and will see it again.
