Timothy Hawking – The Truth About Stephen Hawking’s Son

“Timothy Hawking is not the biological son of Stephen Hawking.” This sentence did surprise me at first, but taking a look at the memoir of Stephen, I had to agree that his third son is from his wife Jane Hawking‘s extra-marital relationship. But not that fast, eh?

That sounds quite baffling, with Jane being the true love who supported Stephen in every ups and downs. Now you might be wondering ‘Who is Timothy Hawking’s real father?’.

Here’s the real story.

Is Timothy Hawking, Stephen Hawking’s Biological Son?

Through a mutual friend, Stephen Hawking met the love of his life, Jane Beryl Wilde, in 1962 at a New Year’s party. It was indeed love at first sight.

In 1963, Theoretical physicist Stephen Hawking was diagnosed with motor neurone disease, (also known as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS)) which is a progressive condition that attacks the nerves in the brain and spinal cord.

At the age of 21 years old, Hawking was given two years to live. Lou Gehrig‘s disease gradually paralyzed him over the decades.

Completely confined to a wheelchair, Stephen was unable to dress, or even feed himself. Despite his health condition, his ex-wife Jane didn’t give up on him.

Jane was still a teenager who unselfishly devoted to bring courage in the life of a man, with a death sentence hanging over him.

However, there was something left unfulfilled. It was the time, when a choirmaster named Jonathan Hellyer Jones came into the lives of Stephen and Jane, helping with a host of physical chores.

Meanwhile, Stephen’s mother Isobel Hawking became openly hostile, and noted: “You see we have never really liked you, Jane. You do not fit into our family.”

Nevertheless, ‘A Brief History of Time‘ writer had given a blessing to the friendship of his wife, which remained chaste for many years until the birth of Timothy Hawking in 1979.

Who is the father of Stephen Hawking’s third child?

The Guardian wrote “Motor neurone disease and physics both played a part in her split from her husband Stephen Hawking.”

Young Timothy looks so happy in his dad’s lap.

Jane, who believes that she continued to love him for his courage, his wit, his sense of the ridiculous and the absurd, left him just to marry the choirmaster Jonathan Jones in 1996, after thirty years of married relationship with her late husband.

Before that, Stephen began to make his nurses allies against Jane, and married Elaine Mason in 1995 which lasted for 12 years.

Becoming the friend’s wife after the husband’s illness might sound intriguing considering friendship. I was too forged to believe that Timothy may not be the actual son of Stephen after watching the movie, “The Theory of Everything” which shows the biography of Hawking.

Through Stephen’s memoir, I’d assumed that Jonathan Jones is the father of Timothy Hawking. But all my belief faded after Timothy chooses Stephen as his father.

Timothy Hawking remained as the son of Stephen throughout his life. And surely all his life, that no DNA test can prove wrong.

Jonathan now serves as the director of college music at Magdalene College Cambridge, while his wife Jane is a Modern Languages teacher.

Below, you can find a short biography of Timothy, including where he is now, and what is he doing.

        Roze S,

I would like to politely ask you to delete Ethan Tara’s comment. They made a post that is advertising a website scam. I do not know if this person is advertising on purpose (by making a fake story, so they could share the website without making it look too suspicious) – Or if they are a genuine account that actually purchased from this website thinking it was legitimate.

But the fact that they posted the website, including the Top-Level domain TWICE, is a huge red flag. Also – “ALS” isn’t even mentioned on their website. (As well as the fact that when you look at the purchase list; It does not list ALS as a “cure” that you can buy. So I don’t know how Ethan Tara is buying something that isn’t available.)

Their post was only meant to advertise a malicious site, that has been known to scam others. I apologize to Ethan if they truly are a genuine customer that didn’t know any better, and got scammed themselves.

Just wanted to give you a heads up, so you aren’t having people going to that website, with their hopes up, thinking they can simply buy a “cure”, when there isn’t even a cure for ALS yet. But this site includes a bunch of other illnesses/diseases that can’t be cured on top of that, in which they falsely claim they can cure with their fake “medicine”.

I hope you this gets your attention ASAP. Thank you, and have a wonderful day!

        ~Matt S.
